We know you agree with us when we say that the pandemic and the lockdown all took a toll on us. It basically left us with anxiety due to an uncertain future ahead of us given that the virus had no known vaccines yet. And what do we do when we have unwanted feelings? We look for something to help us cope.
We all had to find ways to get us out of our miseries while being stuck at home with nowhere else to go. Thus, the birth trends surfaced on the internet with people joining in, one after the other. Here is a list of 2020 pandemic trends to look back on!
Tiktok
Since everyone was stuck at home with no access to the outside world, we all sought refuge to the internet world — to social media platforms to be more precise. And one social media that rose above all was Tiktok.
Tiktok was the number one trendsetter during the pandemic. This social media platform was the source of food trends, dance trends, and whatnot. It also paved the way for people to start vlogging. This is why Tiktok is on the top of our list.
Air Fryer
Air fryers have been around for a decade already with the first being released in September 2010. But because of the pandemic, air fryer sales skyrocketed with netizens going loco for air fryers!
Well, you have to admit that air fryers can make your favorite snacks or meals in a healthier way. Why? That’s because you don’t need oil to have them cooked. And since 2020 was facing a health-related pandemic, we all needed to go for healthier options — or so we heard.
Dalgona Coffee
Technically, the Dalgona Coffee trend was starting to build up since January 2020 when a sought after Korean actor showed fans how to make one. And we all know how their fans can get, right?
However, being stuck at home with nothing to do, people saw this on the internet and went straight to their kitchens. This coffee was the first food trend that everyone joined in on when the pandemic started.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Coincidentally, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons came out when around the same time the lockdowns happened around the world. And we know how the lockdown stopped all of us from meeting our friends.
Well, with the game’s feature of being able to visit islands of your friends, people decided to join in on the trend and bought the game for them to have a fun and new normal way of meeting their friends. Animal Crossing parties were a trend too.
Among Us
This is definitely another online game that was made popular during the 2020 lockdown. It was initially released in 2018 but was not a hit until the previous year. Thanks to video game streamers and their viewers, everyone was able to enjoy this game.
Who wouldn’t though? Meeting with your friends or some strangers in a room around the world with one to three people being imposters disguising as crewmates. And you have to kick out all imposters before they kill all innocent crewmates. Fun way to play detective and killer. Did you get into any of these trends we listed out? Were there any that we missed? We have to say that we are not guilty of joining in on these though!
