Have you ever noticed that whenever you go to a restaurant or a mall or even a park, you will see the youth of America looking down on a square toy like a zombie and not paying attention to anything that goes around them? That square toy is a smartphone. It’s true that our life’s have become super easy since the invention of smartphones. We can contact anyone we want to at anytime, we can get all sorts of information and we can stay connected with everyone around the world. But just imagine for a second what a child would be without a smartphone? Without him or her holding that square toy everywhere, using that square toy like a crazy person? Wouldn’t the life of a child be better without a smartphone?
Let me tell you how the children would be better without a smartphone!
- Firstly and foremost the children DON’T SLEEP! With the smartphone they will keep looking at the screen, they will keep scrolling things on it and that obviously will disrupt their sleep. Children need sleep actually they need A LOT of sleep. Its essential for their mind and their body to remain fresh. With the smartphones they will be lazy and tired all day long.
- No social connection with anyone! Since the children will be hooked on to their square toy they won’t talk to anyone or meet anyone because they would be more interested in their smartphones. Without a smartphone, you can expect your child to have a one on one connection with you where they are actually looking at YOU while talking to YOU! Imagine how beautiful that would be?
- Normally when I go to a dinner at a restaurant I would see parents giving their smartphones to children just to distract them but do you think that’s a good idea? No its not. If a child keeps getting an object that helps him to distract then he would never be able to deal with boredom! LIFE LESSONS MAN!
- A smartphone can be extremely addictive and if children get a hold of it then they won’t be able to focus on anything else. Their studies, their learning would get affected extremely badly.
- Smartphones can expose children to all kinds of violence. In terms of videos that they see or the games that they play on the smartphone and even cyber bullying. This can either scare them for life where they won’t be able to meet new people out of fear or it will desensitize the children to violence making them believe that violence is a normal thing.
So although I have nothing against smartphones and I do believe that they are one of the best inventions ever to be made but I think there is always a specific age and time for anyone to enjoy such an invention and for children its not the right time. They should be playing on the swings, running around, seeing new things, exploring new things rather than sitting on a sofa or a bench with the square toy in their hand and looking like a zombie.
