Maybe you’re finally starting the feel that sitting in front of your computer all day is putting a toll on your health, or maybe you missed the workouts and sports sessions in the gym that you used to go to before the lockdowns. Maybe you’re just on the road to getting fitter. Maybe you’re just bored.
Nevertheless, you’ve started to look into sports that you can do at home – and what do you say, here you are. Worry not, we know how you feel. The lockdown has turned practically all of us into couch potatoes of one form or another, and you’re not the only one starting to feel like things could be better.
For this article, we’ve compiled sports that you can do at home to become fitter even during this quarantine season, or just to give you something else to do besides play with your phone all day.

Yoga
Undoubtedly one of the small respites that the pandemic offered us is to nudge us towards digitization, and nothing benefits from that more than yoga. Now that yoga places are closed, workout sessions have adapted by simply taking videos of themselves and beaming them directly onto our screens, in the comfort of our own home. And this is a good thing; yoga is fantastic for all ages, sizes, and abilities. It improves overall strength flexibility, aerobic fitness, and even calms you down. And best of all, you can do it right at the foot of your bed, if you want.
-
Running
If there ever was a sport that doesn’t require you to go to a gym to participate in, it’s running. You can run anywhere, from your neighborhoods to streets, to parks. It promotes cardiac health, enhances strength and endurance, and sheds calories like crazy. If you can’t go out in your area, you can jog around your property, or within your house, if you’re super careful.
-
Table Tennis
True to its name, table tennis doesn’t require a tennis table to play. You can turn any good old flat surface into a tennis table with a versatile roll net. You just need to have ping pong balls and rackets, and then you’re good to go. Table tennis improves your dexterity, speed, and aerobic strength. More than that, this is also a game that you can play alone, with the aid of a flat surface, like a wall.

Darts
If you’re looking for something that the whole family can do, then you can try darts. It’s a fun game for all abilities and ages, and although the game isn’t hard to play, it’s quite hard to play it well. Becoming good with darts means you need to improve your focus, hand-eye-coordination, and even your arm strength and dexterity. It’s a fun way to spend your afternoons while stretching out your limbs, too.

Swimming
Not everyone has a pool in their backyard – but in case you do, this one is a no-brainer. Swimming is a whole-body exercise, challenging your muscles, heart, and lungs. A couple of laps a day can easily keep you active and fit, and it’s one of the simplest sports to do – provided you already know how to swim. If you still don’t, then maybe you can use the lockdown to try and learn. After all, you’re not going anywhere, the pool’s not going anywhere. Perfect match.
Although the lockdowns brought about by the global pandemic may have trapped us inside our dwellings, there are still some sports that we can do to pass the time, and even to support our journey towards better physical fitness. Just a few of these sports are, yoga, running, table tennis, darts, and swimming. If you’ve been looking for new things to try out, then this is your sign.
