Sugar glider
The sugar glider is an interesting and a cute animal that would no doubt make a perfect companion. It is very popular in the North Eastern part of Australia and it weighs not more than six ounces. It is Grey in color with a white face and they have a dorsal black stripe. Their striking color is a favorite to many people and they easily bound easily with man. The sugar glider loves an environment with branches and vines. The most striking thing about this animal is that it is nocturnal and very social and this means that you would mostly give it attention at night.
Kinkajou
If looking for an affectionate exotic animal then the Kinkajou would be ideal for you. This exotic pet is very affectionate and it perfectly gets along with human. It is a nocturnal mammal mostly common in the Costa Rica, central and South American rain forests. It is sometimes referred to as the honey bear. The Kinkajou has a small head, small ears and relatively large eyes. Most of them are golden or brown in color but sometimes they have a Grey tint. They love mangoes, eggs, bananas and marshmallows. They have sharp carnivorous teeth that they would only use as a defense mechanism when they are threatened.
Squirrel monkey
Originating from central and south America, the squirrel monkey can be an interesting and a lovable exotic pet. Just like badgers, bears and civets, these animals are omnivorous feeding on both meat and vegetables. Most of them are small, weighing less than four pounds and you will always find them in groups of 500 squirrels or more. Of all the primates they have better brains and they are slightly more intelligent than the other primates. If domesticated they are very friendly and they get along well with human beings.
The Mona Monkey
All the way from West Africa, the Mona Monkey is another exotic pet that would make an awesome companion. They are slightly bigger compared to the squirrel monkeys and they weigh about 15 pounds. Typical of every monkey, the Mona Monkeys love climbing things and trees. This means that if you are planning to own one, you would require a private closure specifically designed for climbing. They are a mix of sparkled reddish brown color with white underparts. They are easy to keep since they majorly feed on insects and fruits.
Hyacinth Macaw
The hyacinth macaw is common in South America. They are typically 40 inches and they weigh up to 4 pounds. If well taken care of the hyacinth macaw can live beyond 60 years. They feed on fruits, green vegetables and nuts and as compared to other parrots, they require more carbohydrates.
